Several questions loom large:
1) Who are Americans.
2) What do Americans value.
3) Additionally, how different are current values from those that [our] founders set forth in both legal and cultural form.
Reviewing the economic and cultural impact when traditionally ethnic communities become multicultural such as Harlem NY, Park Slope Brooklyn, Central City Los Angeles, LA's Little Tokyo.
Wondering if the new residents bring different goals and insights that can be shared and grown in a unified manner. Also considering if that breaks the "ghetto ideology". Are people more inspired to change when they see folks of different ethnic origins strive? Or, does that increase cultural divides...
Correspondingly, can that effect be reproduced in media communications to instill sustainable community and national goals.
Moreover, are corporations more willing to tie-in (brand) to multicultural communities, even if they are poor?
Finally, who owns the encalves' story: current expectations, old assumptions, and historic legacy.
Today I asked an economics guru his thoughts on this subject. He said he would lookout for papers related to this. But, this is all very new. Meaning the coded construct of American multiculturalism. America still has a strict black and white view on what is valued, and who are Americans.
