Darn, some of my best culture and branding thoughts are in some way an extension of the months and months of engaging with Mr. Jack Yan during 2008. We were able to dig deep into the cultural matrix of America, and then layer that -- into a global context of sustainable multicultural branding, and insights that will foster engagement on a critical mass scale, locally and globally.
I've practiced both general and ethnic specific branding since the 90's. Yet it was not until the merging of the two, interconnected culturally, did I fully understand the core concept of this Great Americana. Well, historically speaking based on shared experiences, rich legacy roots.
However, it was not the long form historical brand story Jack and I sought.
The query "Who, and What" , and those answers created the foundation of a new brand planning filter for research, story creation, brand activation, and message exposition. It is "branding who we are"
1) Who are Americans?
2) What do we value?
3) What is the role of branding in an era of great consumer segmentation, new migrant-Americans and the country is in an economic meltdown?
4) What are the cultural effects and affects of both post 9/11 fears, and post civil rights strides?
